Christmas time is here and that can only mean one thing: It’s time for people to gather around their trees as they sip their favourite holiday drinks and chuckle at replays of Mariah Carey’s cringe-worthy performance at the 2014 Rockefeller tree-lighting ceremony.
However, the diva is determined to break that tradition with her second mini residency at the Beacon Theatre. The All I Want for Christmas is You concert series is now in full swing here in New York City and I was given the opportunity to attend.
So, true to form, I had to review the festivities on Trini Trent TV.
Big hair, diamonds and confetti marked the occasion that attracted a near packed house. Yet, it was Carey’s voice that took centre stage, (allegedly) with and without the aid of her trusty backtrack.
Did Carey deliver the Christmas cheer? Yes. Did she prove that she is still a world class singer? Yes. Was the show flawless? No.
