Trini Trent TV: The Hypocrisy of Kanye West

Kanye West has gone from the complete media blackout of his Yeezus era to promoting himself wherever possible. In other words, his has truly accepted his place as a member of the Kardashian klan clan.

In addition to his new shoe line and his upcoming So Help Me God album, West has been discussing his recent outburst at the 2015 Grammy Awards and hypocrisy of his statements.

West slammed the Grammy organisers for not celebrating real artistry, and demanded Beck give the Album of the Year trophy to Beyonce. However, following mixed responses from his own fans, he took the time to listen to Beck’s Morning Phase and admitted it is in fact a solid record.

In case you missed the bigger picture: West was initially outraged not as a result of “real artists” being overlooked but because his longtime friend Beyonce had not been given top honours for her self-titled work.

The madness does not end there.

West deservedly earned the Visionary Award at the 2015 BET Honors show but used half of his speech to talk about the benevolence of his wife, Kim Kardashian, and her family. You know, the same people who have been morphing into caricatures of black women, and have made insensitive KKK jokes on social media.

The mysteries of West’s mind never cease to amaze. The way he fights wholeheartedly to get acceptance for friends at the Grammys but rarely gives similar attention to award ceremonies held by and for black people. The way he tells people to ignore micro racism and focus on the macro of the human race. Amazing.
