“We ain’t gonna play with them no more. Beck needs to respect artistry, and he should have given his award to Beyoncé. At this point, we’re tired of it because what happens is, you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental music. You are disrespectful to inspiration.” – Kanye West
The 2015 Grammy Awards ceremony was a marathon of performances, speeches and dedications. However, as you can see from the quote above, Kanye West soured the event with yet another controversial outburst.
After Beck’s Morning Phase won the Album of the Year trophy ahead of Beyonce’s self-titled release, West stormed the stage and almost ruined the former’s moment. Luckily, he did not speak during the telecast but he issued stinging comments to beck backstage.
Naturally, West was mum on Beyonce performing “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” instead of Ledisi, who recorded the song for the Selma film. West also failed to acknowledge the quality of Beck’s music.
Quite frankly, West appeared to be upset because his friend had not won the Album of the Year honour.
Still, the Grammy Awards show as not all gloom and doom as Rihanna surprised viewers with a solid rendition of “FourFiveSeconds”. In fact, she barely needed a backtrack for support!
This episode of Trini Trent TV addresses all of that action and more. By more, I mean Madonna and her desperate bid for attention.
