Fantasia made quite an impression on the viewers of American Idol last week with her stunning performance of “Lose to Win” but was it enough to make her Side Effects of You a success? Unfortunately, sales predictions indicate that although the record will debut high on the charts, the numbers will be far from impressive.
Side Effects of You is on track to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200 with sales of 90-95K units. These figures represent a continuing decline in Fantasia’s album sales, following the 117K copies sold by her previous effort, Back to Me, during its opening frame in August 2010. Her first two albums, Free Yourself (2004) and Fantasia (2006), both moved 240K and 133K in their respective debut weeks.
Thus far, Fantasia has issued two singles from Side Effects of You – “Lose to Win” and “Without Me (Ft. Kelly Rowland & Missy Elliott)”. The former has yet to enter to Billboard Hot 100 but her recent promotional appearances should give it the boost it needs to penetrate the chart.
