Alexandra Burke poses for a ‘Heartbreak on Hold’ promo pic.

I played Alexandra Burke’s Heartbreak on Hold for my dog and he tried to run away from home. Okay, that was an exaggeration but he certainly wasn’t pleased to hear her moan “Elephant” through a veil of auto-tune. Thankfully, neither of us will have to endure that again because she will ditch the cheap Dance cuts for a more mature sound on her new album.

Burke has finally come to her senses and will put her voice to better use on her next album. Channeling the works of Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday and Gladys Knight, not Beyonce Burke will bring her voice back to the forefront of her music, hopefully without the stiff choreography and horrible clothing choices.

Read what Burke had to say about her new album below:

    On her new album:

“I can’t say when it’ll be finished because I honestly have no idea. I’ve always said I’m never going to rush into something – it’s about the quality that goes into it. I’m really happy that RCA have let me concentrate on it and spend time writing it rather than rushing another album six months after my last one. There’s a big focus on live instruments this time – I’m starting to learn to play the keys.”

On the failure of Heartbreak on Hold:
“I loved that album. I loved the positivity behind it. This new album is very different – I’m listening to Aretha, Gladys Knight, Billie Holiday. I’m being inspired by the greats – particularly those who may have been forgotten by my generation. All I want to do is sing and have people hear my voice. If that means slowing things down then so be it… although I do love to dance!”

In other words, the good folks at RCA probably pulled Burke into a meeting and informed her that they will drop her if she didn’t get her act together. Either way, this is great news and it’s exciting to know that she will craft material reflective of her talent for her new album. If not, then Burke could always get hired as a dancer in London’s club G-A-Y with her few remaining fans and beg the DJ to play her music between sets. Here’s a preview of her possible future:

    Duck walk for chips, Burke!
