This is one of those performances that require a few views before you will fully understand the situation. Trey Songz was among the entertainers at UNCF’s 33rd annual An Evening of Stars event that aired earlier this week but his showing was quite odd, to say the least.
At first listen, Songz’s unusually smooth vocals seemed almost too good to be true and it’s easy to assume that he was lip-syncing. However, what he really did was sing over an extra loud backtrack and rely on a loud mic stacked with so much reverb that his voice bellowed like the Almighty to Moses from the flames of the burning bush.
Hey, anything is better than enduring four minutes of Songz yelping, hotting and hollering up the scale. Watch his showing that the Evening of Stars event below:
