Mary J. Blige’s ‘My Life II’ Goes Gold

    Almost 6 months since being released in the US, Mary J. Blige’s ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act 1)’ album has finally been certified gold by the RIAA. However, could this accomplishment really be regarded as  victory for the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul?

    ‘My Life II’ has sold less than 590K copies in the US since being released in November 2011. The record has thus far yielded only one Billboard Hot 100 hit – ‘Mr. Wrong (Ft. Drake)’, which peaked at #87 on the chart. Additionally, ‘My Life’ is ranked as Blige’s lowest-selling studio album in the US, following her previously released ‘Stronger with Each Tear’, which sold less than 920K copies since 2009.

    There is no word regarding if Blige will compete her plans to issue the followup to ‘My Life II’ in May. Yet, without any indication of the project’s lead single, it is highly probable that the record has been delayed. As we wait for news about the album, watch the video for ‘Mr. Wrong’ below:
