Burning Up: Emeli Sande

Burning Up is back and better than ever! Breathing new life into our special feature is an artist with the kind of talent that demands attention; the latest British songbird to enter the spotlight, the breathtaking Emeli Sande.

Gaining┬ánotoriety for her songwriting ability, Sande has collaborated with Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle and Cher Lloyd. In fact, her composition skills were so impressive that Simon Cowell declared that she is currently his favourite songwriter and now that she is finally preparing for the release of her own debut album, ‘Our Version of Events’, on February 13th in the UK, the anticipation for her material is at a new peak.

So what is all the fuss about? Watch Sande perform her debut single, ‘Heaven’, and ‘Next to Me’ on ‘Later…with Jools Holland’ below:

    ‘Next to Me’

It is ironic that Sande has worked with Leona Lewis because they have strikingly similar tones. Yet, Sande has what Lewis lacks – personality. Her music is passionate, raw, exciting and fresh, and everything is brought to life by her technical yet soulful singing.

It is very rare that a new artist with an actual understanding of music emerges in the industry but similar to Jessie J in 2011, Sande has proven that there is still talent to be found on the radio. Hopefully, she will transition into the US market and across the globe because she is truly a phenomenal artist!

Here’s her performing earlier this week in front of hater——Madonna on the Graham Norton show lol

    • plain & simple

Trent you scored again. I love this woman and to see her singing with no backtrack is GREAT!!!!! Someone need to get her songs on the US itunes chart ASAP

    • Rihbaby

Only Rihanna has them great vocal chops. She is good but not on rihs lvl yet, it will take centuries for her to reach that level of vocal excellence.

You finally caught on Trent! She has a amazing voice.

Will her album even be released in the US? I am seeing no US release date. They should just release albums worldwide, some of us in the US have taste and we want this album

I love that you know about Emeli Sande, she is a new great British talent. I love Daddy and her performance on Graham Norton this weekend was brilliant! Madonna wit her stuck up self couldn’t even acknowledge how great she was kmt!

    • Britt Aye – @Bawssse

Because Madonna sees all younger and fresher artists as competition. Old fossil ass.

I’m convince Rihbaby is someone who hates Rihanna but is posing as a stan. Truly a servicewoman or man from her navy couldn’t be this delusional

    • theman

Madonna clapped, how was she hating?

    • YEEEES!

“Heaven” stunned me from the first listen back in August last year and I’ve been a fan ever since. An incredible talent!
